Fluid Power/Pneumatics
FIRST
Scholarships Awarded
FPEF
offered two $500 scholarships to high school seniors
attending one of FPEF’s key schools that met certain
criteria and used pneumatics in the design of their 2010
FIRST
Robots. Each applicant submitted an application, an
essay, two letters of recommendations, high school
transcripts, and pictures from their 2010
FIRST Robot.
A panel of five industry representatives from FPEF Board
of Trustees reviewed all applications. After careful
analysis the FPEF Board announced the following winners:

John Nagohosian's comments based on his recent site
visit: |
|
|
"My site visit at CCC was a
very pleasant experience. The school seemed to have, what
the Foundation feels are the three legs of a stool required
to have a successful program. Those legs include an
energetic and committed faculty, an administration
supportive of the faculty and program, and an advisory
committee to help the faculty abreast of changes in the
technology and requirements of the local community.
It was my pleasure to
have meaningful conversations with individuals representing
all three of those legs. The school has some very
sophisticated equipment reflecting the technology used in
much of industry today. I was pleased, as a former educator
to see that although the faculty has all that sophisticated
equipment, they have insisted on making sure that students
are well grounded in the basics before getting onto advance
courses."
