Requirements for FPEF Key High School Consideration

Program

The applicant high school must provide evidence that fluid power is included in their educational program. Documentation in the form of course outlines or brochures must be presented to support the existence of either “stand-alone” courses, or inclusion in the course of study of an engineering technology related course. 

The applicant school must have evidence of material support in the form of appropriate classrooms and laboratory space to support the courses as well as budget considerations for the courses. 

Appointment as a Key School will be re-appraised every three years. 

Commitment

The applicant school must provide a “Commitment Statement", found in the Key High School Application and Commitment , which must be signed by the chief operating officer of the institution.  This statement indicates the commitment and support of the resources necessary to meet the minimum requirements for key school consideration, listed above.

Key schools have access to information from a network of approximately 20 other Key Schools across the USA and Canada.

Key Schools have access to hardware and software specific to the fluid power industry.

Scholarships are provided for students who are admitted to Engineering Technology related programs at post-secondary educational institutions.

Listing as a Key School is promoted as a recruitment tool, where appropriate, with colorful “Careers” brochures provided to the school at no charge (up to 500).

Cooperation with fluid power industry associations such as American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), The International Fluid Power Society (IFPS), the Fluid Power Distributors Association (FPDA) and the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) is facilitated through the FPEF
